Creating your own Backgrounds

Hello All
I found a few layouts I haven't shared yet! This one I used a white base and had much fun creating my own background. I used stamping, mists sprays, washi tape and tissue paper.
Do you like to create your own background? What techniques do you use?
The star frame is from Fancy Pants, I stamped on it and drew the black border. The cork arrows and gold stars are from Studio Calico. The title I cut out on my Silhouette Cameo.

Over the last few weeks at work we have been working with templates to print your Instagram pics into poster or canvas. This is a sample of one we were proofing. These are my Instagram pics from 2012. I absolutely love it! I will share a better pic real soon when it is on the wall!

Night Photo's

Hi All
Hope your week is going well the weekend is almost here!
Today I wanted to ask have you scrapped night time pics or very dark photo's. If you have what are your tips?? I have been wanting to scrap a few night pics for a long time but never really had any great ideas on how to go about it.
So a few weeks ago I watched a video via Two Peas in a Bucket. I love their videos and you can find the one that inspired this layout here. This video give some great tips for night photos including colors, placement and layers. I really wanted to capture the stillness of my photo and I didn't want it to get lost so I went with a light background with just a few pops of dark patterned paper. I also had to add a few stars being a night time pic and because I love stars! My title is again done on the silhouette cameo and I added watercolor and ink to it.

Stitching - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Well I have to say I LOVE sewing on layouts. Ok I love the effect of stitching  the sewing with the machine part I don't really like. (lets just say me and sewing machines have never really had a great relationship!!) But I think that stitching just adds that finishing touch! I actually think I should do more stitching than I do.
This layout is  a photo-shoot of my girl earlier this year when she turned six. I have used Maggie Holmes crate paper collection (love this range!) The script paper already had the drops of paint so to balance the page I added the same to my white cardstock. The stamping is done with the Glitz camera roller stamp. As you can see in the detail pics the stitching just adds that extra bit of dimension.

Cards

Hello
First day of school holidays here! Great to enjoy some extra family time :-) Today I  just wanted to share some simple cards. I like to have a bit of a stash of handmade cards for when I need them.
I normally like to use a simple white or kraft cardstock as my base. Then adding layers and stitching. Also a favorite of mine is tags and twine.

This Baby girl title was cut on my silhouette cameo in white cardstock and I coloured it with pink ink. This card is also different because it opens in the center.

I have also been playing with the sketch pen on my cameo, totally fun! I will share some pics next time.

Thanks for taking time to stop by my blog!
Have a great week :-)

Using the Silhouette Cameo for Titles

There are many exciting ways you can use your silhouette cameo to create titles for layouts. In these layouts I have tried two different ways.
The first layout I have used a cut file downloaded from the silhouette online store. I have made it to the size I like and then cut it on this red patterned paper. Very easy and effective!

This next layout I used a font I liked and typed up this saying as my title using the silhouette studio software. I then cut it out of my background paper to have the negative  I then put a plain paper behind the negative to make the letters stand out. Also simple but very effective!

So how do you cut titles for your layouts? Please share with me your favorites!

Have a great weekend!
